Voron 0.1
Using Recore A8 and Retool A2 in a Voron 0.1. This page is a work in progress.
See also Voron 2.4 for the same boards in a larger Voron.
Hardware
- Recore A8 as the main board
- Retool A2 as the USB toolhead board (extruder, hotend heater and thermistor, fans, accelerometer, Neopixel)
- Revolt A2 for the X and Y steppers (two TMC5160 drivers)
- Resend A2, which carries the USB connection and power to the toolhead

Software
The printer runs Rebuild with Fluidd. The Retool A2 runs Klipper's stock RP2040 firmware, which Rebuild installs and keeps in step with the host.
Klipper configuration
The Recore A8 uses the reference config that comes with Rebuild (rebuild-reference/generic-recore-a8.cfg), with the Fluidd config and the toolhead config included from printer.cfg:
[include fluidd.cfg] [include Retool_A2.cfg]
The Retool A2 is a separate Klipper MCU, found by its serial number:
ls /dev/serial/by-id/
Put the path that shows up for the Retool in [mcu retool]. The toolhead config is based on the one used in the Voron 2.4. Its extruder is called extruder3 and its fans have their own names, so it can be included next to the A8 config. The heater, thermistor and PID values still have to be set for the hotend that is fitted, and PID tuned.
To do
- Wire diagram and layout
- Toolhead mount and 3D model
- Tested configuration and settings
